CREATING HEALTH

The state of health is the state of balance and harmony; the state of being at ease, as opposed to dis-ease.  This is true both for physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health.  It would be very difficult to achieve an overall state of well being if any of these categories are ignored or out of balance.  Many of the physical symptoms we experience can be pointers to imbalances at other levels of our being.  We may choose to go and see a doctor to deal with the symptoms, and get some medicine to alleviate the symptoms.  Of course, we need to do this.  However, just as important is it that we begin to understand the relationship between our body and mind.

All of our psycho- physical energies are inter related and will have an impact on our health.  Excessive anger creates imbalance in the liver and bile, and could at some later stage create arthritic problems.  Excessive grief and fear will restrict breathing and create problems with the lungs and related areas.  Worry will create too much acid in the stomach and in time become stomach ulcers.  There are effects from both our gross and subtle energies.  Often it is just a matter of time and how strongly or how repetitively the energy is expressed, before it ripens into sickness.  In short, any kind of imbalance has potential to create ill health at some stage, when activated by external and/or internal conditions.  For this reason, it will never be enough to just take care of, and deal with, the physical aspects of health.  It is necessary to also strive for harmony in thought, speech, actions, emotions etc.  If that is achieved then the chances of illness are reduced.

Therefore, the first step is to become lucidly aware of the relationship between our body, thought, feeling, emotions, and intentions as well as what arises in our interaction with others, and the world.  Along with this, we can try to see and understand how these energies travel in the psycho-physical being.  We need to become aware of where the energies end up and how they influence the physical.  Doing this we will begin to see and experience how health or imbalance is created, and how ease or dis-ease arises.  We begin to see and understand the need to take some time to cultivate our inner awareness so that we may exercise a better choice of actions.

When we reduce the intensive, repetitive, extreme, or negative emotions, we will at the same time minimize the unbalanced energy patterns that affect our health.  Therefore there will be far less obstructions to the proper flow of energy throughout our being, and as a result we will have better health and resistance to illness.  It is a good idea to stay in tune daily with our inner energies, physically, emotionally and mentally and spiritually.  Let us take stock of where we are at, and then resolve to create a harmonious state of being.  With regard to this our spiritual values can be a very helpful tool.  However, even if we are not inclined towards a specific school of thought, we can still use our basic value system as a guiding incentive for establishing better health and balance.

To achieve health and well-being, we must integrate all aspects of life, be it physical, mental, emotional and spiritual, and live according to natural laws, rather than follow our general desires and wishes.

I wish you health and happiness always.
